Handbuilt Ceramics
Jacqueline
Leighton Boyce
"I create handbuilt, non-functional ceramic forms inspired by the textures and rhythms of the natural world — each piece unique, shaped intuitively, coloured in response to the shifting seasons."
Selected Works
A selection of handbuilt ceramic pieces shaped through clay, colour, illustration, and the quiet language of the natural world.

About the Artist
Handbuilt Ceramics in Their Most Honest Form
Based in the UK, Jacki Leighton-Boyce creates handbuilt ceramics as an earthenware ceramicist, firing to temperatures no higher than 1080°C. It has always been important that viewers are left in no doubt that the work is made from clay — she wishes to demonstrate an overall rawness and immediacy.
She works in red terracotta, building layers of colour and illustration using slips, underglazes, glazes, and finally lustres, with surfaces created by multilayering and sgraffito.
